John J. "Jay" Wiley is a highly decorated retired Baltimore Police Sergeant who dedicated his career to law enforcement until an act of violence led to serious injuries. As a result of the incident, he underwent three surgeries and had two steel plates placed in his right hand, leaving him physically disabled. At just 33 years old, he was retired from the Baltimore Police Department. The effects of his injuries are still visible today, as his wrist and the base of his right thumb remain fused in place.
Following his retirement, Jay relocated from Maryland to South Florida, where the warmer climate provided relief from the discomfort caused by cold temperatures affecting the metal plates in his hand. It was in South Florida that he first became involved in audio programming. In 1999, he and a group of friends launched an "Audio-Blog," an early form of what would later evolve into modern-day podcasts.
This passion for audio eventually led to a brokered radio show—a two-hour program airing every Saturday night in Palm Beach County. Hooked on the world of radio, Jay pursued further education in broadcasting, attending night school at the Connecticut School of Broadcasting in North Palm Beach. From there, he quickly found work in music radio, gaining experience in various locations, including Ridgway, PA; Lake City, FL; Mechanicsville, MD; and Key West, FL. In March of 2017, he officially launched the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show, which grew into a Nationally Syndicated Weekly Radio Show and top podcast. It is a widely recognized platform.
Beyond his work in radio, Jay and his wife, affectionately known as “The Boss,” share a deep love for animals, particularly Rottweilers. They have been involved in showing Rottweilers in AKC Confirmation and German-style Schutzhund competitions for over 25 years. Additionally, they are passionate about animal rescue and actively participate in all-breed rescues for both dogs and cats, including their own beloved feline companions.
He is also deeply committed to helping others recover from PTSD and trauma. His own experiences have fueled his passion for the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show, making it more than just a broadcast, it’s a mission to support and uplift those who have served and sacrificed.
