Loxahatchee, FL – Two Florida Deputies Killed, One In Fight For Their Life in Crash. Two Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) deputies died, and a third was critically injured Thursday morning after being struck by an SUV on Southern Boulevard near Loxahatchee.
The crash occurred in the 18000 block of Southern Boulevard, west of Seminole Pratt Whitney Road. The deputies, members of PBSO's traffic unit, were on department-issued motorcycles in the eastbound lanes when the collision happened.
Immediate Response
Emergency crews, including multiple law enforcement agencies and Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, responded to the scene. A Trauma Hawk helicopter transported one deputy to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach.
Video footage showed a deputy being wheeled into the hospital on a stretcher. All three deputies involved were taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center, where two were pronounced dead.
Procession for the Fallen
By early afternoon, a procession of law enforcement vehicles escorted the deputies’ bodies from the hospital to the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Investigation
The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is leading the investigation. Preliminary reports indicate the deputies were stationary when the SUV struck them. Dashcam footage captured moments leading up to the crash.
Southern Boulevard, a key east-west route, was closed for several hours but reopened by early afternoon.
The identities of the deputies and the driver have not been released. No arrests have been made.
