CAM Law Enforcement Training Program Offered NYPD Leaders Tools to Counter Rising Antisemitism. New York City is home to the largest Jewish population outside Israel, and the community has experienced a troubling rise in antisemitic incidents in recent times, demanding a response from municipal authorities, including police.

Against this backdrop, the Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM), in partnership with the George Washington University (GWU) Program on Extremism, conducted a specialized law enforcement training session for New York City Police Department (NYPD) chiefs, senior officers, and other high-level municipal personnel and interfaith community leaders last Wednesday at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in Manhattan.

The seminar focused on teaching how to recognize and address antisemitism in its many contemporary forms and offered tools to counter it.

Around 150 people attended the event, with NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch offering opening remarks.

Other speakers included CAM Chief Government Affairs Officer Lisa Katz, Museum of Jewish Heritage President and CEO Jack Kliger, GWU Program on Extremism Senior Research Fellow David Zimmerman, and NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force Commander Gary Marcus.

CAM is thankful to the NYPD for its participation and grateful to Commissioner Tisch for her leadership and commitment to securing Jewish life in New York City. CAM would also like acknowledge the Museum of Jewish Heritage for its hospitality and CAM Senior Advisor Joel Eisdorfer for his coordination.

Through its law enforcement training program and other initiatives, CAM collaborates regularly with law enforcement bodies across the United States to assist them in protecting Jewish communities from rising hatred.

A similar training session was held for Virginia state police and public safety professionals at George Mason University in October.
